FREMONT, Calif.—When a group of 35 fire chiefs representing the Western Fire Chiefs Association recently visited Paradise, Calif., one of the areas impacted by the Camp Fire in 2018, Blackmagic Design’s URSA Mini Pro and Pocket Cinema Camera 4K were brought along to document their experiences and share with others.

The members of the WFCA—a non-profit organization serving 11 western states—were given a tour by Paradise Fire Department Chief David Hawks of different parts of the area affected by the fire and told of the efforts for evacuation.

WFCA’s documentary crew was given full access to the area, which is where the Blackmagic cameras came in. Kelsey Jones, creative development specialist for WFCA and lead on this project, utilized the Pocket 4K camera to capture B-roll, while the URSA Mini Pro handled on the spot interviews. Jones praised the camera’s ability to produce matching quality of footage.

“Digital storytelling is a crucial element that WFCA is beginning to harness in an effort to reach our members more effectively,” said Jones.
