Veteran Television (VET Tv), an online subscription VOD billing itself as “the Comedy Central” of the military, will host an awards show Aug. 4 to celebrate its first year in business at the Comedy Palace, a San Diego comedy club.

The comedy channel, which specializes in an unvarnished brand of humor aimed at the millions of U.S. military veterans who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, will bring its same hard-edged humor to the awards show, an announcement said.

The event will begin with a 9 p.m. (PDT) cocktail hour. The show will begin at 10 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. There are 150 seats available.

The channel, which relies on its own staff of writers and producers, boasts 26,000 subscribers who pay $5 per month to watch. Currently, VET Tv has more than 20 hours of content and plans to have 100 hours in a year, the announcement said.

More information about the awards show is available on the VET Tv website.
