The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded 14 major contracts to transform the VA’s information technology system at a total cost of $12 billion.
The companies the VA has selected to complete the work under the “Transformation 21 Total Technology” (T4) program are: Adams Communications & Engineering Technology, ASM Research, Booz Allen Hamilton, By Light, CACI-ISS, Creative Computing Solutions, Firstview Federal TS, Harris Corp., Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services, Information Innovators, 7 Delta, SRA, Systems Made Simple, and Technatomy. A final company has yet to be named, the VA says.
The 14 prime contracts were awarded together as a tool to close gaps in acquiring IT services to integrate systems, networks and software, the VA says. The 15th contract is pending resolution of a protest filed with the Government Accountability Office.
The T4 program is a five-year program aimed at making long-term upgrades to the VA’s technology operations including IT and telecommunications services, including program management and strategy planning; systems and software engineering; enterprise network, test and evaluation; independent verification and validation; cybersecurity; operations and maintenance; and training and IT facility support.
“This five-year program will help VA transform into a 21st century organization and enable us to deliver the high-quality health care, benefits and services veterans have earned,” said Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric K. Shinseki. T4 “opens an opportunity for veterans in business to grow and claim a share of VA’s business.”
The companies selected will have a fair opportunity to compete for work under T4 over five years. Their services and products may cover the life cycle of a computer system, and include program planning and management, systems and software engineering, cyber security, operation and maintenance, and support to facilities.
