U.S. Air Force and Navy fighter aircraft are to be outfitted with night-vision cueing display systems by Vision Systems International, a producer of helmet-mounted displays for tactical aircraft.

Under the terms of the $19.8 million contract, VSI is to deliver 100 night vision displays by November 2013, according to the company.

“With this award, additional front line U.S. pilots will have access to technology that delivers joint helmet mounted cueing system capability to night missions,” said Phil King, VSI’s president.

VSI says its NVCD technology will be integrated into all domestic joint helmet-mounted cueing system and will be used on F-15s, F-16s F/A-18 JHMCS-equipped aircraft. The contract is an extension of a $3.8 million NVCD LRIP-2 logistics contract awarded to VSI in September of 2011.
