ST. PAUL, MINN–Tightrope Media Systems will soon be shipping two versions of their new Cablecast Flex multiformat video servers for their broadcast automation product line. The two models, Cablecast Flex 4 and the Cablecast Flex Lite will be featured at this year’s NAB Show.

Ideal for customers that operate multiple channels, the Cablecast Flex 4 server has four channels that can be configured as either inputs or outputs, and is available with 16TB or 32TB of content storage configured as RAID5. The Cablecast Flex Lite operates with one input channel and one output channel.

“It is very common for PEG stations, digital sub-channel broadcasters and educational campuses to operate three or more channels,” said Steve Israelsky, vice president of sales and marketing for Tightrope Media Systems. “With Cablecast Flex 4, these customers will be able to use a single server to do what previously required two. This not only lowers their equipment purchase costs, but also enables ongoing savings in space, power, cooling and systems maintenance.”

Cablecast Flex enables media files encoded in MPEG-2, H.264, DVCPro and ProRes to be directly aired without further transcoding. Cablecast’s software has integrated features like live input encoding, channel branding, conversion between SD and HD and input and output configuration. Cablecast automation software drives the Cablecast Flex servers through its user interface.

The new products will be featured at the Tightrope Media System booth (SL4228) at the NAB Show, April 18-21 in Las Vegas . The Cablecast Flex servers will start shipping on May 16th.
