STM Group Inc., which provides satellite and cellular wireless network systems and services for mobile and fixed IP-based telephony, broadband data and multimedia applications, announced the formal launch of its Government Division.
The new division will help the U.S. military and federal agencies better capitalize on the DVB-RCS technology. STM will leverage its technology to supply Satcom products and services that can alleviate many of the existing bandwidth and coverage limitations faced in government use of satellite communication.
Eric Sivertson will lead the newly created STM Government Division LLC as its CEO. Sivertson was previously general manager of Xilinx’s aerospace and defense business for three years, and prior to that he worked for Thales Communications Inc. as director of Software and Digital Engineering.
Emil Youssefzadeh, CEO and founder of STM, said, “We are delighted with having Eric leading our entry into the U.S. government market. With his experience and knowledge in secure communications, Eric can help meet the growing demand by U.S. military for a standards-based product that can be truly interoperable among multiple platforms.”
