SMITH COUNTY, TEXAS—The Smith County Sheriff’s Office has two new recruits according to a report from KLTV, a pair of drones. The two new unmanned aerial vehicles, which were funded by a private donor, will be put to use for investigations in criminal and missing person cases. Six deputies are currently being trained to operate the drones and they will be put to use once the department receives the proper licenses and waivers from the FAA.
