NILES, ILL.—The Navy Pier in Chicago is recently constructed the Polk Bros Park Performance Lawns for outdoor performances and exhibits, but during its development it faced a big problem in regards to RF. To help handle what is considered one of the densest RF environments in the U.S., audio and video contractor OSA International chose to go with a wireless system from Shure.

Eight channels of Shure ULX-D Digital Wireless, along with six Beta 58 handheld transmitters and 10 ULX-D belt packs, were installed at the venue. The ULX-D system provides efficient RF performance, networked control, Dante digital audio and AES-256 encryption. The OSA team created group channel assignments with the ULX-D system to coordinate among other venues located on the pier.

In addition, OSA utilized Shure microphones at the Polk Bros venue.
