Saudi Arabia has asked the U.S. government’s permission to purchase $330 million worth of night vision and thermal vision equipment from U.S. vendors.

The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA)—the agency that coordinates foreign military sales—has reported the Saudi’s request to the U.S. Congress.

According to the DSCA, the Saudis shopping list includes:

  • High-performance In-Line Sniper Sight (HISS) thermal weapon sights
  • MilCAM Recon III LocatIR long range, light weight-thermal binoculars with Geo Location
  • Dual Beam Aiming Lasers (DBAL A2)
  • AN/PVS-21 Low Profile Night Vision Goggles (LPNVG)

The Saudis are also seeking spare and repair parts, support equipment, technical documentation and publications, translation services, training, U. S. government and contractor technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistical and program support, DSCA says.

The prime contractors to supply the equipment and services are FLIR Inc. of Boston and Laser Devices Inc. of Monterey, Calif.
