San Bernardino, Calif. has deployed video-surveillance systems by RADWIN, a provider of sub-6 GHz broadband wireless solutions, over the entire 81-square-miles of the city.

The RADWIN 5000, a high-capacity point-to-multipoint, and the RADWIN 2000 point-to-point wireless solutions were deployed throughout the city by CelPlan, a system’s integrator that was responsible for the project’s design and implementation.

The RADWIN systems were selected because of their ease of installation and speed of deployment, said Michael Eckley, of the San Bernardino Police Department.

“Our overriding goal is to enhance residents’ safety and reduce crime,” therefore video cameras were deployed at “critical junctures and public areas,” Eckley said. In addition, RADWIN had “the right technology to transmit video from the cameras back to our control center,” he said.

The RADWIN 5000 and RADWIN 2000 wireless system deliver the highest capacity for long ranges, according to the company. The radios incorporate advanced technologies enabling superior performance in the harshest conditions, NLOS and extreme weather, RADWIN said.
