The latest codec from RGB Spectrum is capable of encoding and streaming either a single channel of high-definition 1080p video or four NTSC/PAL video channels simultaneously at up to 30 fps each for video-over-IP applications.

The new DSx HD/SD codec uses H.264 compression.

As a decoder, the unit can display one HD stream or up to four SD streams in a quad image. Video streams can also be decoded with commercial off-the-shelf PC software. As an encoder, the unit offers several video monitoring options: displaying a live image or a processed (encoded/decoded) image full screen or in a quad mode.

An on-screen display (OSD) offers titling and time code. External time code synchronization sources time code from a Network Time Server (NTS/NTP) and inserts it into the video stream.

It offers several features, including the ability to record to external USB storage devices, RS-485/RS-422 communication for external control of PTZ cameras, and a choice of external power or Power-over-Ethernet.

It’s aimed at mission-critical video-over-IP applications including command-and-control, communications, security, industrial control and surveillance.
