RealNetworks, Inc. introduces a new version of Helix Producer, part of the Helix Media Delivery Platform, that includes IP ingest, as well as batch encoding, logo and text overlay and rolling archives.

Government agencies can take advantage of the scalability, reliability and lower total cost of ownership that Helix Producer offers for a variety of mission-critical solutions and functions including streaming live footage to citizens via traffic cameras and using it for security purposes, the company says.

With IP ingest, organizations can capture both real time streaming protocol (RTSP) for IP surveillance or streaming service and MPEG2-TS for digital cable TV or satellite streams, and transcode the content to deliver to multi-screens, including PCs, mobile devices and tablets, RealNetworks says.

Helix Producer automatically changes the codec by reducing the screen size and preparing multi-formats, thereby reducing the amount of manual labor required, the company says. In addition, the latest version of Helix Producer with IP ingest is also able to accommodate multiple video inputs per density on a single datacenter server enabling organizations to significantly reduce the amount of server hardware required, the firm says.
