Quantum’s Xcellis is a next-generation shared workflow storage system that consolidates media and metadata management, extends connectivity options and support hosted applications. Running off the StorNext 5 media workflow platform, the Xcellis supports online work in process, ingest and delivery, and archive through Quantum’s Lattus products.

Xcellis provides flexible configuration of performance and capacity through a range of production and archive options, including multistream 4K editing, extended online storage utilizing object storage technology, and cloud- and tape-based archiving.

Additional features for the Xcellis system are StorNext Connect, a management tool that supports users in configuring, deploying and scaling the storage system and identifies and resolves issues, and the ability to extend connectivity options for Fibre Channel and Ethernet clients and support hosted applications. Manfrotto D1 Drone Backpack

Manfrotto, a developer of support products for photo, video and lighting systems, is providing videographers and photographers a new way to take their drones on the go with the release of its new D1 Drone Backpack. Part of the Aviator Collection, this all-in-one carry system allows users to carry quadcopters, mount them and be able to change location quickly.

The backpack can accommodate a DJI Phantom 1, 2 or 3, as well as a DSLR, lens and a tripod. Users can carry the drone in the backpack with or without the propellers attached and still protect the camera section. It also features an internal laptop and media compartment, which enables users to organize and share their work.

CanonREALiS 4K500ST Pro

The newly unveiled REALiS 4K500ST Pro AVC LCOS projector from Canon is able to deliver 4K resolution of 4096x2400, up to 5,000 lumens and Canon’s LCOS technology with AISYS-enhancement. Combining these features and compact size — it weighs 38.8 pounds — the projector is designed for immersive simulation and training that requires high image quality but limited space.

Utilizing the Genuine Canon 4K short focus wide zoom lens and a throw ratio of 1.0-1.3:1, the 4K500ST is able to project a 10-foot wide image from 10 feet. As part of the REALiS project line, which all feature LCOS technology, the 4K500ST can project multiple 4K resolutions, including DCI standard for 4096x2160 and Quad Full High Definition of 3840x2160. The project also integrates dual image processing engines, BiCubic and Canon’s Shape Trace upscaling technology options, as well as optional motion blur reduction, dynamic gamma and memory color correction features.

The 4K500St includes four DVI and two HDMI inputs for connectivity. The model supports PJLink, which allows it to control and monitor the projector over the network. It functions as a Creston Connected device and supports AMX Device Discovery. Info: www.canon.com
