Starting in July, Polaroid, a producer of digital cameras and high-definition camcorders, says it will offer a 10-year warranty on its full line of surveillance solutions.
The 10-year warranty will cover products from Polaroid’s Internet protocol-cameras that offer up to 20-megapixel resolution; or its analog cameras, which offer 700 TVL resolution; or its 14 megapixel, 360 degree fisheye cameras, the company says.
“The Polaroid brand stands for quality and there is no better way to communicate that than to provide the security industry’s longest warranty,” says Nathan Needel, chief operating officer of PRD International, which is the manufacturer of Polaroid’s professional security solutions. “Whether the customer is in corrections, education, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, government, retail, transportation or other market arenas, all will be provided with a 10-year warranty.”
Commencing in July, end-users will be presented with a full line of Polaroid surveillance solutions that foster improved ease of operation, including short training sessions designed to highlight the cameras’ “user-friendly” features, the company says. An example of how “user-friendly” the cameras are, Polaroid says its VMS camera is compatible with more than 1,800 cameras from 80 different manufacturers.
“We look at video surveillance differently,” Needel says. “Contrary to only collecting and recording evidence for later review, we see surveillance as being proactive. We think of the camera as a sensor,” he said. An example of that is when a Polaroid surveillance system senses something out of the ordinary, it will send a message to the appropriate official, he says. “With Polaroid surveillance hardware and software, customers will be able to produce information, not just evidence, instantly,” he adds.
