Point Source Audio, a producer of ear-worn microphones located in Novato, Calif., unveils its “unsinkable” waterproof microphone, the CO-5w Waterproof Earworn Microphone.
The CO-5w is the waterproof version of Point Source Audio’s CO-5, which the company says is popular with public speakers. The CO-5w is ideal for those who speak or perform in outdoor environments near large bodies of water, for the microphone combines all the reliable performance characteristics of the CO-5 with a special water-protected microphone that makes it “unsinkable,” the company says.
“We’re super excited about our ‘unsinkable’ feature,” said Yvonne Ho, Point Source Audio’s vice president of marketing. “Of course we don’t recommend users drowning their wireless packs in water, but now they have a microphone shielded against humidity and water so it can be used almost anywhere.”
The CO-5w has an omni-directional polar pattern that allows a full 360-degree pick up of sound providing a natural blend of voice and ambience, according to Point Source Audio. In addition, the design of the CO-5w lends itself to reduced speech produced “popping sounds” and voice overloads in close mic applications.
