Planar Systems Inc., a producer of digital-display technologies, is adding multi-touch, multi-user capabilities to its Planar UltraRes Series 4K liquid-crystal display product line, according to Planar.
Touch technology is useful for public-display applications such as providing directions or any interactive digital signage designed to engage users, Planar said. A multi-touch, multi-user experience, Planar UltraRes Touch offers six simultaneous touch points, making it easy for multiple users to collaborate and interact at the same time, the company said. The display recognizes the full range of common touch gestures including tapping, scrolling, pinching and rotating, the firm said.
The Planar UltraRes Touch is also available in Planar’s ultra HD (3840 x 2160) display line, which provides four times the resolution of a full HD display system, the company said. Touch capabilities attracts viewers to a display, and UltraRes Touch delivers “razor sharp clarity” even at close-viewing distances, Planar said.
“Touch integration has been the number one customer request since we introduced the Planar UltraRes Series of 84-inch ultra HD displays,” said Steve Seminario, Planars’ senior director of product marketing. “By utilizing Planar’s exclusive ERO protective glass surface and proven multi-touch technology, we’re happy to respond with a world-class implementation that is Planar-built and Planar-supported.”
Planar Systems’ line of professional touch displays range from 15-inch diagonal desktop and kiosk displays, up to 300-inch diagonal multi-touch video-wall displays, the company said. In addition, the UltraRes Touch is available in three versions which all offer six simultaneous touch points. The versions, and some of their features, are:
- The Planar UltraRes Touch LX, which offers 350-nit brightness, is designed for meeting rooms and control rooms providing whiteboard, collaboration, presentation and videoconferencing functions.
