Its big enough to show larger-than-life-sized people. It's so big, normal high-definition content can't fill its 4Kx2K (4096x2160) array of pixels.

Panasonic's largest display, measuring 152 inches (that's nearly 13 feet, more than 3.8 meters) diagonally, is expected to find a place in business, educational and medical applications. Of course, extremely wealthy private individuals might want it for the cavernous home theaters in their mansions.

The company calls it the world’s largest HD plasma display. Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, it's engineered for reproducing stereoscopic images, allowing home viewers to experience the latest 3D content from Hollywood.

It dwarfs Panasonic’s previous large-screen effort, a 103-inch plasma introduced in 2008.

The new model incorporates a new “frame-at-a-time” driving method to reduce "crosstalk" and deliver clearer 3D imaging. In addition to home theatre applications, Panasonic expects the new 152-inch display to find business, educational and medical applications. The company expects that acceptance and growth of 3D television will accelerate in 2010, calling it “the first year of 3D.”
