Oncam Grandeye, a producer of security solutions, launched its “Evolution range” of 360-degree cameras, which consists of a 5-megapixel camera that features wide dynamic range, high frame rate, H.264, and an on-board secure digital (SD) card.

The Evolution range camera also supports power over Ethernet (PoE) and offers digital input and output and audio capabilities, according to Oncam Grandeye. As part of a multi-phased rollout, more than 250 of the cameras have already been shipped and many trials are taking place with customers around the world, the company adds.

The Evolution range is the first major product release since Oncam acquired Grandeye in July 2012, and over the next 12 months Oncam Grandeye will be launching more 360-cameras in the Evolution range, the company says. Those cameras will have better imaging and a capability of up to 12 megapixels with full analytics and onboard storage, the firm adds.

The Evolution range will also be supported by a mobile device app with de-warping at the client-side, which really pushes the boundaries of remote viewing of 360, says Rich Pineau, Oncam Grandeye’s chief technology officer. “Reaction to the app from our customers who have used or seen it had been incredible and we see this as a very exciting development for Oncam Grandeye and the 360 market,” he says.
