The National Center for Media Forensics (NCMF) at The University of Colorado Denver is acquiring a dTective forensic video, image and audio analysis system from Ocean Systems, along with 10 additional copies of ClearID forensic image clarification software, as central components of the new NCMF Classroom Lab. The lab will be part of a new masters degree program established to educate the new forensic media experts.

The NCMF was launched in 2008 by Prof. Richard Sanders, who died in 2009. and has received over a $1 million in federal funding.

"It is the only masters level program in the country that focuses solely on the forensic analysis of video and audio media evidence," said Jeff Smith, interim director of the center.

More than 1,500 dTective systems are in use now worldwide, processing multimedia evidence from proprietary digital and analog video security systems, in-car cameras, still cameras, and audio recording devices, for use in investigations and court. There's more about dTective, including a video, here.

“With the advent of recent opinions from Federal and State courts advocating the questioning of forensic evidence, we are seeing more orders for our solutions from Educational Institutions like the University of Colorado Denver because education and training in these matters is so critical.” said Angelo Guarino, president of Ocean Systems.
