The Sandia National Laboratories’ International Nuclear Security Engineering department has selected ObjectVideo Inc.’s video analytics software—OV6—to facilitate security training at atomic facilities.

Sandia National Laboratories are located in Albuquerque, N.M. and Livermore, Calif. and while Lockheed Martin Corp. owns the facilities, they also are Department of Energy national laboratories. ObjectVideo is a producer of “intelligent video.”

The laboratories’ International Nuclear Security Engineering department is tasked with reducing weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and terrorism threats to U.S. national security through international technical cooperation.

The laboratories’ training program seeks “to help the international community protect critical assets and reduce threats,” said Dominic Martinez, manager of Sandia’s International Nuclear Security Engineering department.

The OV6 software is an integral component of the Sandia training and demonstration system that highlights the security technologies required to protect critical resources and international weapons systems, ObjectVideo says.

The work is taking place at the laboratories in Albuquerque, with the OV6 system fully integrated into the intrusion detection, access control and video management security solution, ObjectVideo says. In addition, ObjectVideo’s technology partner on the project—Open Roads Consulting Inc.—provided its Video Image Control and Display System, a video-over-Internet protocol distribution and management platform, which is the video system’s backbone, ObjectVideo says.

“ObjectVideo is very pleased that our new OV6 software was chosen as the video analytics component for this very important international security program,” said Raul Fernandez, the company’s chairman and CEO. “We are proud our industry leadership has helped pave the way for technology innovations to play an increased role in making our world safer.”
