CHELMSFORD, MASS.—The citizens of Newton, Mass., can now watch their city council meetings in HD as the Newton Media Center (NewTV) now has three HD channels and a Mica 500 integrated production switcher to manage the HD productions for them.

The Mica switcher is installed in NewTV’s compact control room and is used to control the station’s three Panasonic PTZ cameras. The Mica also has an output connected to the control room TV’s HDMI input so it can be used as a second mutliview if needed. The switcher also helps control the city council graphics, including a main slate, lower-thirds and a bug with a meeting date; more graphics are planned for the future.

Additional Mica outputs can be used to provide live feeds to the City Hall War Memorial Auditorium as well as conference rooms across the facility.

NewTV has previously used Broadcast Pix systems, including a Granite 6000 integrated production system at a separate facility and additional production systems at the Newton Education Center for school meeting coverage.
