Networked IP surveillance systems are getting more and more practical with tools like the IPS series Network Video Recorder (NVR) from Toshiba Surveillance & IP Network Video.

It supports 32 IP cameras in 3 RU and is compatible with Toshiba IP network cameras and those from other leading manufacturers including Axis, Sony and Panasonic.

Cameras are recorded at their encoded resolution, including super high-resolution megapixel cameras, without degradation in video quality. On-board software provides security administrators with simultaneous recording, playback and remote streaming of live video images.

It’s also available in 16- and 8-channel versions with optional 500 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB hard-drive storage.

It lets users define settings on a per camera basis including their resolution, motion detection, alarm recording, and frame rate up to 30 fps per camera. Video can be recorded from both local and global cameras via the Internet, and is stored using MJPEG compression. It can remotely control pan/tilt/zoom cameras.

"With simplified user setup, the ability to coexist with a variety of other network devices, and powerful processing speeds, our new IPS delivers a real-time solution that makes it possible for locations as diverse as shopping centers or single-family homes to receive the benefits of network video surveillance," said Sergio Collazo, director of Sales and Marketing at Toshiba Surveillance & IP Network Video. "IPS technology is a natural complement to our popular networking cameras for capturing, recording and distributing IP surveillance video."
