LOUDON COUNTY,VA–When the Loudon County Board of Supervisors updated their broadcast production facility to cover meetings, they built a second control room and equipment facility for their secondary boardroom. In order to use both rooms to broadcast meetings–sometimes even simultaneously–the new secondary boardroom needed to be connected to the main boardroom’s core system equipment, cable headends and web encoders.
To do this, the board contracted with SI Digital Video Group, which designed and built the second control room and equipment facility. DVG installed Nevion’s Flashlink optical fiber transport solution to handle 16 signals between the two meeting rooms; two Nevion Flashlink Compact frames provided a total of 18 signals in each direction and allowed multiple in-house SD, HD, 3G-SDI signals to be transported. Nevion’s Multicon N-BOX controller for standalone applications was also installed.
Nevion’s Sr. VP of Sales, Americas, Mike Root, calls this a “perfect demonstration” of the installations flexibility. “Whether it is a local government facility or a global broadcaster, when an organization relies on real-time high-quality video, audio and data feeds, and effectively has to produce more content with fewer resources, we can architect solutions to help them achieve just that.”
