Mojave Audio has introduced the MA-50, a large-diaphragm transformerless condenser microphone. Using the same capsule as found in the company’s MA-200 and MA-201fet models, the MA-50 handles transients all the way up to 140dB. The mic is suited to capturing vocal performances, voiceovers, acoustic instruments, Foley / ADR, as well as percussion instruments.
The new MA-50 utilizes a large-diaphragm, fixed-cardioid polar pattern design. The microphone incorporates a 3-micron capsule and employs transformerless circuitry that results in a low noise floor. Combined with its fast transient response and high SPL capabilities, the MA-50 offers a basic yet elegant design that makes it ideally suited for use in both professional and home studio environments, the company said.
“The combination of low self-noise, great transient response and high SPL handling capability make this mic an excellent choice for a wide range of recording applications,” said Dusty Wakeman, president of Mojave Audio. “As a result, it’s equally at home in the professional studio as it is the home project studio.”
