Video surveillance and remote monitoring company mobiDEOS Inc. has added security enhancements to its MobileCamViewer mobile surveillance application that increases online protection for government and commercial users.
MobileCamViewer now offers video streaming over hyper text transfer protocol secure (HTTPS) connections, providing additional security through encrypted communications, mobiDEOS says. The convenience of using HTTPS as opposed to virtual private networks (VPN) means that customers can securely share video on public networks and remain protected from hackers.
“MobileCamViewer customers can now share video securely with police and other agencies without having to provide VPN access or physical media,” said Sri Palasamudram, mobiDEOS Inc’s CEO. “This saves our customers a noticeable amount of cost and time while preventing unauthorized usage of private video information,” he added.
HTTPS combines traditional HTTP web connectivity with secure sockets layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption, a protocol for coding information sent over the Internet, the company says. The MobileCamViewer’s HTTPS capability ensures the video it streams is secure, reaching only authorized users, the company says.
