Military Technology Tested to Track, Map Wildfires

SAN DIEGO—The San Diego Fire-Rescue department has some new tools to combat fires with the addition of infrared and video gear that has been used in the past by the military. The new equipment, including a new communications system, will be installed in an airplane and used to monitor wildfires.

The Federal Communications Commission said it has proposed to fine a New York City resident for apparently operating a radio transmitter on frequencies that the commission has licensed to the New York Police Department, causing interference with the NYPD’s radio system.
