MediaSilo, a provider of cloud-based media workflow solutions, partnered with systems integrator SI XPlatform Consulting to create “Ubiquity,” a hybrid server that provides users with access to content stored in ground-based storage area networks, network-attached storage or mobile asset management media repositories.

Ubiquity enables users to perform one search across multiple SAN, NAS or MAM systems and facilitates workflows for capturing, transcoding and reviewing media assets, according to MediaSilo.

“Large enterprises have complex workflows for storing and managing their media, coupled with a requirement to collaborate remotely for the creation, approval and release of content,” said Kai Pradel, MediaSilo’s CEO. Many of those companies have a large investment in multiple SAN, NAS or MAM systems spread over multiple sites, but their employees lack an easy means of finding and accessing the content remotely, he said.

By integrating with partners such as SI XPlatform, MediaSilo can offer those enterprises cloud access anywhere and anytime, combined with the security and familiarity of their SAN, NAS or MAM systems on the ground, Pradel said.

Ubiquity is a workflow orchestration and automation platform that integrates the MediaSilo cloud service with digital asset management, video encoding, cloud storage, CDN and digital file delivery technologies, MediaSilo says. The system enables companies to catalog and then live-sync those repositories to the cloud. The company says MediaSilo automatically stores metadata and low-res proxy versions of the full-resolution content, making it simple for professionals to browse content by logging onto the MediaSilo interface.
