Kongsberg, a Norway-based supplier of defense and aerospace-related systems, has contracted Havok, a U.S. producer of real-time simulation and 3D visualization technology, to use Havok’s 3D full-featured simulation technology.

Under the deal, Kongsberg will use Havok Vision Engine, Havok Physics, Havok Destruction, Havok Animation, Havok AI, and Havok Script to create high-quality, immersive simulation training systems for a wide range of training scenarios for their clients.

“Kongsberg is a veteran defense and aerospace contractor driven by their dedication to develop best-in-class solutions for their clients and diligent in their third party technology acquisitions,” said Cory Kumm, Havok’s director of military & simulation. “Following extensive investigation, prototyping and comparative evaluation of Havok technology, our entire product portfolio was selected by Kongsberg to use as part of a common core technology infrastructure for simulation and training development across the company,” he said.

In addition, Torberg Fremnes, Kongsberg’s product manager, simulation & training, said “The extended feature set from Havok will enable us build a multitude of training systems to meet the specific requirements of our clients, from operator, driver and combat training to multi-player war gaming.”
