JVC Professional Products is shipping the GY-HM600, its newest handheld ProHD camera.
The camera features a built-in 23x zoom lens and delivers quality low-light performance with increased sensitivity (F11 at 2000 lux), JVC says. With a 1.22 MP color viewfinder and color 3.5-inch liquid crystal display (LCD), the GY-HM600 also has three, 1/3-inch 12-bit complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensors, each with 1920x1080 pixels. Its built-in Fujinon high-definition (HD) lens features a 35mm-equivalent focal range and has manual focus, zoom and iris rings, along with three neutral-density (ND) filters, the company says.
The camera records in formats, including native XDCAM EX (.MP4), Final Cut Pro (.MOV) and AVCHD, to non-proprietary SDHC or SDXC media cards, JVC says. In addition to relay mode for uninterrupted recording, the GY-HM600 allows simultaneous recording to both memory cards for instant backup or client copy. The Pre Rec records and stores up to 20 seconds of footage in cache memory.
Equipped with a local area network connection (LANC)-based remote connector and compatible with JVC’s ProHD Compact Studio seven-inch monitor, the GY-HM600 can be used for an affordable studio system, the firm says. The camera also includes a time-code synchronization input as well as HD-standard digital interface (HD-SDI) and HD multimedia interface (HDMI) outputs, as well as includes two XLR (Cannon) inputs with phantom power, shotgun microphone holder, headphone jack, and additional input for a wireless microphone receiver.
