MITCHELL, S.D.—When Muscatine Power and Water makes the switch from a cable system to IPTV for its video subscribers later this year it will do so with the help of Innovative Systems. The company will provide middleware to MP&W as part of the Fiber to the Home (FTTH) project.
For the planned video roll out, MP&W will replace current set-top boxes with new generation IPTV equipment. The new features of the IPTV systems will be driven by Innovative Systems’ middleware. This will include an enhanced interactive guide with expanded search and network DVR with “restart” and “catch-up” capabilities. A remote-control smartphone app will also be available, which will all for remote setting of a DVR.
System construction is expected to begin in May, followed by neighborhood-level system construction. First customer cutovers are expected in August.
