Tough Mudder competitions are “hardcore” 10 to 12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test a participant’s strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. About 500,000 participants have run the courses and raised more than $2 million for the Wounded Warrior Project.
However, the organizers stress that the Tough Mudder challenge is more than an event, it is a way of thinking. By running a Tough Mudder course, participants can unlock a true sense of accomplishment, have a great time and discover a camaraderie with other participants “that’s experienced all too rarely these days,” organizers say.
The Tough Mudder website reflects that by showing videos of the obstacles, of participants overcoming those obstacles and featuring interviews with participants who acknowledge the courses are tough, but that they are better for having been challenged by them.
For focusing attention on a fundraising activity that requires strength and determination, the Tough Mudder competition is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
