The Traffic Safety Coalition is a not-for-profit grassroots organization comprised of concerned citizens, traffic safety experts, law enforcement, public officials, victim’s advocates, health care professionals and industry leaders who are committed to working together to make the nation’s roads safer for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.
The organization seeks to create partnerships throughout the country to teach drivers the importance of safe and responsible driving, which is documented in a section of the coalition’s website called “State Coalitions.” However, the website does more than document its partnership efforts, it also features the latest information on traffic safety and outlines campaigns it is conducting such as its “Respect Red” campaign, which is focused on ending red light running and thereby reducing the number of preventable deaths that occur at the nation’s intersections every day. It goes even further. The website contains traffic camera video of horrific motor vehicle accidents, including at least one of a vehicle colliding with pedestrians who are crossing the road legally in the crosswalk.
For focusing attention on the need for more safety when driving a vehicle, the Traffic Safety Coalition is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
