The Toronto Video Atlas of Liver, Pancreas and Transplant Surgery website has been designed to instruct surgeons in the care of patients with complex problems in liver, pancreas and transplant surgery, and highlight the advanced surgical techniques required for the management of those diseases.
The curriculum and cases have been targeted to surgeons who have completed their training in general surgery and are enrolled in fellowship training in liver, pancreas and transplant surgery. Additionally, senior residents in general surgery and recently graduated liver, pancreas and transplant surgeons may find the content valuable to their practice.
The curriculum has been divided into three main modules and each module contains video of liver, pancreas, bile duct and transplant surgery. There are also specific chapters containing virtual reconstructions of the anatomy and videos of the operative details.
Each chapter is an independent learning exercise with objectives, bibliography and questions. The website encourages viewers to provide feedback to enhance the Video Atlas for future liver, pancreas and transplant surgeons.
For creating an online resource for specific transplant surgeons, the Toronto Video Atlas of Liver, Pancreas and Transplant Surgery is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
