Government Video Website of the Week: the DoE and ‘Arne Answers Questions’

The Department of Education website offers a feature called “Arne Answers Questions,” in which Secretary of Education Arne Duncan “addresses the hot topics and burning questions in education.”
The video was mostly absent from the website in 2012; but on Jan. 22 it returned with a new episode—entitled “Free from Fear”—in which Duncan focuses on gun violence, school safety and out-of-school factors influencing student achievement.
The video features a straight question-and-answer format with teacher Dan Brown, who is working at the DoE for a year as a “teaching ambassador,” asking Duncan the questions. It is a simple video format that works, and that could be used by other agencies, or even public, education and government channels, to provide constituents with answers about issues or policies.
For smart use of the format in “Arne Answers Questions,” the DoE’s site is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
