Shoot Off Visual Media Workshops is a not for profit program for military and civil service photographers and videographers. The workshops are for all skill levels and provide professional development to help fill training gaps those photographers and videographers might have.
The workshops challenge photographers and videographers to shoot or produce a still or video photo story, or essay, within a 24-36 hour time frame. Edit teams are on hand to help critique and mentor the participants in a challenging and engaging environment.
The 2013 workshop schedule includes the photography workshop “DC Stills Shoot Off” scheduled for March 14-17 and the video workshop “DC Video Shoot Off” scheduled for May 2-5. Both the DC Stills and DC Video workshop are being held in the Navy League Building in Arlington, Va.
In addition, the workshop “Shoot Off International” is scheduled for Sept. 23-25 and it is being held to coincide with the National Association of Naval Photography’s Convention and Reunion in Arundel Mills, Md.
The workshops attract top speakers, mentors, editors and judges from around the country. The speakers include Pulitzer Prize and Emmy Award winners, authors and lifetime educators. There are also legacy military photographers who provide mentorships.
For seeking to increase the skill of government and military photographers and videographers, Shoot Off Visual Media Workshops is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
