The Red Lodge Clearinghouse is a website dedicated to increasing citizen participation in natural resources decision-making by making such participation easier than ever.

Home to one of the most extensive collections of collaboration resources on the Internet, the RLCH website—founded in 2001 by fashion designer and philanthropist, the late Liz Claiborne and her husband Art Ortenberg—has served the needs of individuals and organizations engaged in collaborative natural resources management for more than a decade.

The Natural Resources Law Center took over the project in 2007 and has worked to broaden the RLCH’s mission of providing support for a wider variety of problem-solving methods and to break down barriers impeding citizen engagement. It is doing that by providing tools that are useful for anyone who wants to influence natural resources policy decisions. Those tools include stories that chronicle collaborative initiatives and the lessons learned from those efforts, a collaboration handbook and funding information.

For seeking to increase citizen involvement in deciding natural resources policy making, the Red Lodge Clearinghouse is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
