Medical Research Charities (MRC) works to raise funds for the 30 charities that are part of its network using a workplace giving strategy. Through workplace giving, employees of participating companies can donate portions of their salary to ensure that scientists can continue to “find cures for the most stubborn diseases in our lifetime,” MRC says.
Some of the diseases that MRC funds research to combat—and which are featured on the website—includes Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is the leading genetic killer of children worldwide; as well as gene therapy treatment for those with Leber congenital amaurosis, which causes severe vision loss at birth.
To re-assure donors that MRC promoted charities are conducting and/or funding progressive research, the organization thoroughly vets the charities for program effectiveness, organizational sustainability and federal compliance. MRC also conducts an annual review of each charity’s finances, programs and levels of research support.
For using the Internet to fund potentially lifesaving research, Medical Research Charities is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
