Let’s Move! is an initiative, launched by Michelle Obama which seeks to solve the problem of obesity among Americans within a generation by focusing on children born today so they will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams. A video of the first lady is on the Let’s Move! website and in it she outlines the need for, and the goals of, the Let’s Move! program.
The Let’s Move! website has made itself the central location for the program’s local chapters through its “Meetup” page. That page encourages parents, teachers, chefs, elected officials and others to take action by participating in face-to-face meetings dedicated to solving the problem of childhood obesity in their communities. In addition, the website wants members of the local groups to share how the meetings went, and to even post photos the meetings, or from events—such as healthy cooking classes, or a physical activities such as games—on the website.
For using a website as the anchor of a long-term program designed to combat obesity among Americans, Let’s Move! is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
