Charity Navigator says it is an independent charity evaluator that “works to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health of over 5,500 of America’s largest charities.”

Among the many features on Charity Navigator are the website’s rating systems which includes the “Top 10 Highly Rated Charities with Favorable Reviews” and the “10 Least Viewed Charities with High Ratings.” Each of the top rated charities have been vetted by Charity Navigator and by the public, and they have all earned the organization’s highest, 4-star rating. While the ten least viewed charities with high ratings have been rated high, their evaluations are among the least frequently visited on the website.

In addition, Charity Navigator seeks to foster audience participation by having viewers write reviews of their experiences with a charity. Charity Navigator has partnered with “GreatNonprofits” to enable donors, volunteers, board members, community partners, recipients of a charity’s service or other stakeholders to write reviews of charities.

For scrutinizing charities to identify the best, Charity Navigator is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
