Government Learning Technology Symposium Registration Now Open

Distance and e-learning symposium is co-located with the Government Video Expo

WASHINGTON–The Federal Government Distance Learning Association has announced registration for their Government Learning Technology Symposium–which is co-located with the Government Video Expo and National Drone Show–is now open.

The FDGLA is encouraging attendance from instructional designers, systems professionals, job performance support professionals, multimedia developers, education and training facilitators and course-ware developers.

The symposium will hold several sessions on distance learning technologies and its effective uses. The planned speaker sessions are as follows:

  • Media selection: A Distance Learning Primer Workshop, presented by Dr. Philip Westfall, director, Defense Education & Training Network, and director, Air Technology Network, Dept. of the Air Force.
  • Developing an Instructional Design Process by Tim Carrier, manager and executive producer, Justice Television Network, Office of Legal Education, US Dept. of Justice.
  • Implementing and Sustaining Technology Innovation by Dr. Judith Bayliss, Ph.D. Center Director of Curriculum & Faculty Services (CFS), DAU.
  • The Future Learning Ecosystem by Dr. Sae Schatz, director, Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative.
  • ADL Workshop: The Experience API -What Is It and What Can It Do for You? by Rob Chadwick, systems engineer IV, Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative.
  • Assistive technologies (AT) and Distance Learning by Alex Koudry, Director, Center for Information Technology Access, General Services Administration.
  • OPM's Government-wide USALearning Record Store by William Peratino, director, USALearning, Office of Personnel Management, and Paul Jesukiewicz, director, Knowledge Portal, Office of Personnel Management.
  • Ensuring Contracts Include Accessibility as Required, presented by Section 508 by Helen Chamberlain, program director, Government-wide Section 508, Office of Integration, Integrity, and Access, Office of Government-wide Policy.

Attendees are to register at the Government Video Expowebsite and are reminded to select “FGDLA/GLTS Only or Both FDGLA/GLTS and Exhibit Hall” when answering the question, “What is your primary reason for the attending Government Video Expo?” on the registration’s second page.

The FDGLA symposium, like the National Drone Show’s and Government Video Expo’s exhibit hall, keynotes, presentations, and networking events are free. More information on the overall conference can be seen here.
