The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) says the deadline for licensees and regulatees to pay their annual fees is Sept. 13, 2012.
Filers must ensure that their regulatory fee payments are received at the commission’s St. Louis, Missouri address by 11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time on Sept. 13, 2012, to avoid incurring a 25 percent late-payment penalty, along with interest and other fees, the FCC says. All payments must include a FCC Registration Number (FRN) in order to be processed, the commission adds.
The FCC is required by Congress to collect regulatory fees to recover the costs associated with its enforcement, policy and rulemaking, user information and international activities, the agency says.
The commission established the fees that licensees and regulatees must pay for Fiscal Year 2012 in its Report and Order, Assessment and Collection of Regulatory Fees for Fiscal Year 2012. The “Report and Order” was published as a final rule in the Federal Register on Aug. 3, 2012, and became effective on Sept. 4, 2012.
