Extron Electronics, a manufacturer of professional audiovisual system integration products, introduces the HFX 100 9 high-definition multimedia interface fiber optic cable extender.

The HFX 100 9 is a transmitter and receiver set for long distance transmission of HDMI video and embedded audio signals over a single fiber optic cable, Extron says. Using a multimode cable just short of 1,000 feet, the HFX 100 9 extends high-bandwidth digital content protection-compliant HDMI signals, according to the firm.

The extender uses all-digital technology to deliver transmission of images up to 1920x1200 pixels, including high-definition television 1080p/60, and it is designed for applications that require long-distance transmission of HDMI video and multi-channel digital audio signals, the company says.

The HFX 100 is intended to be used to “extend HDMI signals beyond the distance capabilities of high speed HDMI or twisted pair cables,” says Casey Hall, Extron’s vice president of sales and marketing.

The extender supports data rates up to 6.25 Gbps, 12-bit Deep Color, high definition lossless audio formats and consumer electronics control, Extron says. To simplify integration, the HDMI cables are directly attached to the transmitter and receiver, connecting both source and destination devices.
