Extron Electronics is now shipping its HFX 100 HDMI Fiber Optic Extender.
The company says the transmitter and receiver set is intended for long-distance transmission of high definition multimedia interface video and embedded audio signals using fiber optic cable. According to Extron, it extends high-bandwidth digital content protection-compliant HDMI signals over a multimode fiber up to 984 feet.
Extender uses all-digital technology to deliver pixel-for-pixel transmission of images up to 1920x1200, including HDTV 1080p/60. The HFX 100 is designed for applications that require high image quality and reliability over long distances, the company says.
The HFX 100 supports data rates up to 6.25 Gbps, 12-bit Deep Color, HD lossless audio formats and Cation exchange capacity. Ultra-flexible HDMI cables are attached to the transmitter and receiver to facilitate installation by enabling direct connection between source and destination devices. The compact transmitter and receiver are housed in single-unit enclosures that have a width of one-eighth of a rack.
