Vidyo Inc., a producer of personal telepresence systems, says its conferencing suite devices meet the Department of Defense’s Joint Interoperability Test Command requirements, and are now on the DoD’s unified capabilities approved products list.
Now included on the DoD’s approved products list are Vidyo’s Defense Switch Network and its IPV6 interoperability requirements, the company says. As an approved provider of products to the DoD, Vidyo offers government customers a differentiated, video conferencing solution based on an entirely unique communication and collaboration platform, the firm says.
Vidyo’s software-based, flexible and customizable solution is designed around the company’s patented VidyoRouter architecture, the firm says. Adaptive video layering and the H.264 SVC video compression standard are used to optimize the video for each endpoint, the firm says. In addition, the VidyoRouter delivers rate matching and continuous presence capabilities without requiring expensive conference bridges.
Vidyo’s technology delivers high quality conferencing in many form factors providing users with a choice of how to use the technology, the firm says. Since Vidyo utilizes non-QoS enhanced networks, access to telepresence-quality conferences is possible to anyone with terrestrial, wireless, broadband or Satcom network connectivity, it says. Vidyo acknowledges the current investments by users into traditional video teleconferencing and telepresence systems, and its products ensure compatibility with H.323/SIP based end points and infrastructure.
Vidyo's solution is perfectly suited to the needs of government customers, with special consideration for agencies that require high information assurance and interoperability, but need to be budget-conscious at the same time, said Ofer Shapiro, Vidyo's CEO.
