If you're watching Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the nomination of Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court, you may have noticed that the C-SPAN presentation is in HD--the first time such a hearing has been available that way.

Ascent Media Group scrambled to build the HD control room--C-SPAN's third--on an accelerated schedule, working six days a week for six weeks starting in mid-May.

In November 2009, AMG started a refit of two master control rooms, upgrading them both to HD. (C-SPAN HD Control Room 1 is for House proceedings, while HD Control Room 2 is for Senate hearings.)

HD Control Room 3, built for the large Senate Judiciary Committee room in the Hart Senate Office Building, had to be built from scratch and ties into the existing infrastructure.
