Storage device features rugged security

Data security and data mobility company CRU Inc. introduces the CRU ToughTech m3, geared toward photographers and videographers who need to store images and data on a safe, secure storage device.

According to the release, testers found its WriteProtect capability, which ensures data can’t be deleted by accident and keeps viruses and unwanted data off a drive, to be useful. Its aluminum construction was also cited as a plus, as was its portable power source from its USB 3.0 connection to a laptop or other device. Its rugged construction also includes a Kensington lock.

Its data interface speeds clock in at: SATA 3 Gbps, up to 300 MB/s; USB 3.0, up to 5 Gbps. It also features driver support for 2.5" (9.5mm tall) SATA hard drives and SSDs and operates on Windows 7, 8, Server 2003/2008 and Vista or Mac OS X 10.2.6 or later, as well as Linux distributions that support the desired connection.

CRU ToughTech m3 will be available at the end of the month.
