CalDigit Debuts Small External RAID Storage
CalDigit VR mini 2 RAID storage
PLACENTIA, Calif. — CalDigit, a manufacturer of storage products for video production, announced that the VR mini 2 portable RAID storage solution for creative professionals will be shipping by the end of this month. The VR mini 2 is the successor to the original VR mini from CalDigit that brought RAID protection to location based workflows. The VR mini 2 now features the added benefit of USB 3.0 connectivity.
The VR mini 2 allows users the flexibility of utilizing RAID protection wherever they are. The original VR mini was used by film crews and photographers around the world in locations where a portable RAID device was needed to keep secure file back-ups.
“The robust small form-factor design of the VR mini 2 makes it an ideal solution for use on location, where it is of utmost importance to have dual back-ups of important files,” said Kosta Panagos, director of marketing for CalDigit.
The VR mini 2 supports RAID 0, 1 and JBOD. RAID 0 gives users the best possible performance. RAID 1 gives users two automatic back-ups of their data, and JBOD allows for two independent disks.
Featuring USB 3.0 and dual Firewire 800 interfaces, the VR mini 2 gives users flexible connectivity options. The two removable drive modules on the back of the VR mini 2 allow users to upgrade and expand their storage. Compatible with both Mac and PC, the VR mini 2 is available with 2TB of storage from CalDigit.
Built from 100-percent recyclable aluminum, the VR mini 2 features a front-facing LCD screen that allows users to monitor and configure the device without the need of any software. The CalDigit VR mini 2 is currently available to pre-order from the CalDigit online stores now. Pricing for the 2TB VR mini 2 starts at $449 in the US.
