Barco has unveiled its NSL-4601, a professional grade, narrow-bezel 46-inch LCD display with WXGA resolution.

It’s designed for tiled video wall applications in small to medium-sized control rooms such as those in emergency operations centers, traffic and surveillance centers, and utility and process control rooms.

“Tiled LCDs are an ideal complement to the current rear-projection video wall offering for mission-critical control room applications,” said Mathieu Massart, director of Product Management at Barco's Displays product group. “Tiled LCDs require less power consumption than plasma displays and are not subject to permanent, irreversible burn-in. Furthermore, they offer more flexibility and scalability than single-monitor wide-screen LCDs.”

In combination with Barco's dedicated display controller, the NSL-4601 allows presentation of sources in native resolution without loss of content, or scaled. Multiple sources (video, PC content or streaming video) can be presented and positioned anywhere across the entire LCD stack.

The NSL-4601 can be calibrated by means of Barco's display consistency management software, ensuring a correct white point and accurate grayscales. It can also be combined with Barco's streaming video cards, which allow simultaneous processing of large amounts of streaming video signals in real-time with minimal latency.

Barco's NSL-4601 video walls can be serviced from the front and the back and require no back room space at all, so they are ideally suited for control rooms where space is limited.

The NSL-4601 will be available starting in May 2009.
