Ampex Data Systems Corp. said it has been awarded a contract from L-3 Integrated Systems to supply rugged Ampex miniR 700 airborne HD data recorder systems to support the Air Force's new NC-2W Intelligence-Surveillance-Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft.

These platforms, dubbed Project Liberty Aircraft, will augment the heavily tasked ISR assets employed by the U.S. military and its coalition partners.

"The miniR 700 recorder is a fully integrated, multi-channel, high-definition video and digital data recorder," said Don Downing, Ampex business development manager. "The unique architecture of our miniR 700 solid-state recorder system enables it to collect and replay the full motion video generated by the advanced L-3 WESCAM MX-15 True HD Sensor.

Ampex Data Systems Corp. is based in Redwood City, Calif.
