MINNEAPOLIS — The Alliance for Community Media announced Mary Van Sickle, executive director of Dakota Media Access, Bismarck, N.D., was voted in by the board of directors to replace Jon Funfar for the duration of his one-year term. Van Sickle has been on the board since 2013 and most recently held the position of chair-elect.
She has worked as the executive director of Dakota Media Access, which serves the areas of Bismarck and Mandan, N.D., since 2000. Van Sickle also serves on the advisory committees for mass communications at Bismarck State College and the Art Marketing Department at United Tribes Technical College. Prior to DMA, she worked in a variety of marketing and non-profit management positions.
As the chair of the ACM Midwest region interim board, Van Sickle serves as the Midwest Region representative to the national ACM board of directors.
Van Sickle succeeded Funfar when he made the decision to step down from his position as board chair after recent changes in his professional workload reduced his availability for chair responsibilities. He will continue to serve on the board by taking over Van Sickle’s chair-elect position.
